The journey through cancer care can be both confusing and frustrating. No patient “goes it alone” at the CROS. To help guide the patient through the process, we offer the support of a patient navigator. Serving as champions of patient advocacy, patient navigators are guides that can help facilitate diagnostics and treatment, assist with financial, insurance and paperwork issues, and provide support in many ways. Patient navigators can help coordinate appointments or transportation, make childcare arrangements or assist with research on appropriate clinical trials. Our patient navigators are survivors, themselves, or have been touched by cancer in some way, and are able to play a defining role in the lives of our patients, traveling side-by-side with them from diagnosis to treatment.
