It’s natural for patients who completed their radiation treatments to be concerned about what the future holds. Many are concerned about the way they look and feel, and wonder what they can do to keep the cancer from returning. Understanding what to expect after radiation treatments are complete can help patients and their loved ones plan for follow-up care, address lifestyle changes, and make important health-related decisions.

After treatment is complete, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled so our radiation oncologist can make sure your recovery is proceeding normally and continue to monitor your health status. Our radiation oncologist may order additional diagnostic tests and labs or provide a referral to supportive care, if necessary. Reports on your follow up status will be sent to your physicians who have been involved in your treatment. As time goes on, the frequency of your visits will decrease. However, you should always know that your radiation oncology team will always be available should you need to speak to someone about any questions or concerns.
